I backed out of my driveway and hit a parked car that was partly blocking the driveway. The insurer of the parked car wants to collect from me. Do I have to pay?
If the car accident was completely your fault, you are responsible for the damages. If the car accident was only partly your fault, you may be only responsible for a portion of the damages. It depends on the laws of the state where the accident occurred, especially whether it is a "fault" or "no fault" state. You may be able to negotiate the amount of damages. If you do have to pay, you may be able to ask your insurer whether you can pay in installments.
