The car accident slightly damaged my car, my neck injury went away quickly, and I only lost a day of work. Can I handle this myself?
At least notify your insurance company. Some injuries grow worse over time. Your policy may not cover those expenses later if you did not tell the company about the accident. Also, insurance companies have the statistics: they know how much a small claim is worth. They are in a much more powerful position to negotiate with the other party than you are. If the claim gets complicated (for example, the neck injury turns out to be whiplash) or negotiations get bogged down, you may want to hire an experienced auto accident attorney. The auto accident attorneywill charge a percentage of the settlement, but it may be worth it if the attorney wins a larger settlement or simply gets you a settlement faster.
