Who should I contact if I want to make a claim to recover money damages for a swimming injury?

Contact an attorney who practices personal injury and accident law. Ask the attorney if the facts of the case trigger Admiralty jurisdiction. If he doesn't know the answer, ask him to find out. The statute of limitation (the time limit within which you must file your lawsuit) in a civil action for damages for personal injury or death arising out of a general admiralty tort suit is 3 years. If the case doesn't trigger Admiralty jurisdiction, then the state negligence law applies and the statute of limitation for personal injury of that state will apply. Remember that the statute of limitations for personal injury cases vary from state to state and it may be shorter than the 3-year admiralty general maritime statute of limitations.
