A New York construction worker who was injured on a demolition project has settled his case against two construction companies and a maintenance firm for $4.9 million. The worker was buried under concrete debris and suffered severe and permanent injuries.

According to news reports, David Delprince, a 43-year old construction worker was a member of a five person team which was demolishing a 100-year old building in New York and turning the property into luxury condominiums. Delprince was working on the 6th floor of the building when several tons of concrete and wire mesh crushed him. He sustained permanent injuries to his back and now needs help walking. He can no longer work in the same field of employment.
He sued the construction companies hired for the project, as well as a maintenance firm, for the injuries he sustained. The unsafe workplace case made its way to trial, but the parties ended up settling for $4.9 million after just two weeks of testimony.
